Camp Ohana
Camp Ohana (Ohana means Family) was held on 3rd – 6th May 2024 at Hallowtree. The County Cub Camp was attended by Cub Scouts from all over Suffolk in total over 400 Cubs attended!
On the Friday it rained and rained and rained but just as the Cubs started to arrive at 6pm the rain stopped. How lucky!
Friday evening there was an opening ceremony, all the Cubs gathered and the group flags were paraded. All eyes were set skyward with a fireworks display! We partied into the night at the disco before heading back to our sub camp Hakuna Matata for supper and bed.
The Cubs had an early start on Saturday, I woke up to the noise of Cubs talking at 04:30am. Someone needs to tell them there is only one 4.30 in the day and that’s 4.30pm.
After a hearty bowl of cereal and a cooked breakfast Cubs were off to explore and try all the new activities.
On Saturday and Sunday Cubs where able to explore all the different activities at their own pace and meet new Cubs from across the country. There were far too many activities to list but they did include an arts and crafts tent, science tent, climbing, shooting & water zorbing. You will find a selection of photos on the gallery page.
On Sunday we held Scouts own, a time to reflect on camp and the friends we have made.
On the last day we had a closing ceremony and it was then time to pack up the tents. The weather held up so we could pack up in the dry. Overall, it was a very busy fun packed camp and boy did I sleep well Monday night.
I have yet to finish unpacking from camp and plans are well under way for our next outing so watch this space!
