American Camp Adventure
From Friday 3rd July to Sunday 5th July, our Cub pack went on an amazing American-themed camp. The weather was really sunny and hot ☀️
I had a fantastic time!
When we arrived on Friday, the first thing we did was put up all our tents. It was hard work, but it felt great when they were all standing up ready for the weekend. For supper, we had delicious hamburgers which was a great way to start our American adventure. 🍔
Later that evening, we went on a night expedition through the woods down to Nacton Shore. As the sun was setting, we had a brilliant view of the Orwell Bridge. It looked amazing against the evening sky and was one of my favourite moments of the camp.
On Saturday morning, we woke up hungry and enjoyed American pancakes for breakfast. After that, we had a busy morning taking part in archery and crate stacking. Archery was lots of fun, and the crate stacking was exciting as we tried to build and climb higher and higher.
For lunch, we cooked hot dogs and corn on the cob on a barbecue, which made us feel like we were at a real American cookout!🌭🌽
In the afternoon, we played American football. It was great fun learning the rules and running around in the sunshine. We also took part in pioneering, where we used ropes and poles to build bridges.
On Saturday evening, we played a wide game & then gathered around the campfire. We were joined by the 1st Heybridge Scout Group, and together we learnt some new campfire songs. My favourite was “I Have Mango!” It was funny and everyone joined in. After the campfire, I don’t really know what happened next because I fell straight asleep!
Sunday morning was our last day. We took part in the US Masters golf tournament ⛳. We then went to army boot camp and tackled the assault course.
We also made an American-themed nature collage using things we found around the campsite.
Before we knew it, it was time to pack down all the tents and get ready to go home. Although the sun was very hot all weekend, I had an amazing time, learnt new skills, tried new activities, and made lots of great memories.
