Our April Cub Camp at Hallowtree 2026!

On Friday morning the leaders got to Hallowtree nice and early to set up camp. They put up the big dining tent with tables and chairs, the mess tent, and the camp kitchen — just in time for us Cubs to arrive!

It was a really hot and sunny day, and we were very excited. But first, we had to put up our tents so we had somewhere to sleep. Once all the tents were up, camp was ready and the fun could begin!

Friday night we played lots of wide games to use up our energy. For supper we had hot dogs and hot chocolate, which were yummy. After that we went on a night walk around the campsite. We heard foxes and owls and saw loads more stars than we ever see at home. Even though we were told it was bedtime… most of us didn’t fall asleep until very late!

On Saturday morning we woke up to sunshine again. Breakfast was scrambled eggs, bacon, and beans, which filled us up nicely. After tidying camp and washing up, we went on a bug hunt. We looked under logs, on branches, and even shook some trees! We found snails, spiders, beetles, and a bumblebee. We also saw a buzzard flying in the sky. Make sure you look at the photo gallery to see what we found.

Here’s a joke we learned: What do you call a homeless snail?
A slug!

Next, we collected firewood and learned how to safely build and light fires. We cooked our own lunch — pizza wraps with cheese, ham, peppers, onions, and pepperoni.
They tasted amazing!

In the afternoon we ran all around the campsite doing orienteering. We also got to try air rifle shooting and practiced aiming at targets like proper experts.

By the evening we were very hungry again — and this time we didn’t get cooked for! We helped make our own dinner of chicken goujons, new potatoes, and green beans. For dessert we had cake and custard, which everyone loved. At night we had a campfire with soup and a roll. When it was bedtime, we fell asleep straight away.
The leaders were Very Happy!💤

Sunday morning was a bit cold, but breakfast fixed that. We had pancakes with chocolate spread and syrup — delicious! After breakfast we did lots of mini games and challenges at different bases. Then it was time to pack up camp and head home.

We had a brilliant weekend, the weather was fantastic, and we can’t wait for our next camp.
Go and have a look at the Photo Gallery to see all the fun we had!
