Chessington Sleepover & St George’s day parade

Date: 29th Apr 2019 Author: Carl Reeder

At 7am the Cubs arrived for a sleepover with their sleeping bags etc. they were stored in the side room because we were first going on a visit to Chessington World of Adventures.

After collecting the tickets, we were straight through and split into our groups for the day. Some chose to do as many of the big rides that they were brave enough or even tall enough to go on. Other chose the more family friendly rides and the animals in to zoo section. One Cub was scared of roller coasters but managed to pluck up enough courage to ride the vampire, and not just that but also got the front ride too!

Mandatory gift shops at the end before the journey home. We were welcomed back with smell of a lovely Spaghetti Bolognaise and Garlic bread prepared by a few parent helpers. Yum Yum!

After dinner the Cubs watched a film, Mary Poppins Returns projected onto the far wall before heading to bed. The Leaders were very impressed that they slept through until 6am.

Our brilliant team of parent helpers returned the next day to prepare Cereals followed by a full English breakfast for us. After breakfast the Cubs washed up and packed up their kit so that we could set up the morning activities. The Cubs had a morning of the Archery and Climbing facility in our headquarters. After a packed lunch we took the Cubs to meet up with the rest of the District in the town centre for the annual St Georges Day Parade.

All the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Leaders in the District renewed their respective promises and we sang some hymns, some with actions too.

Afterward we returned to HQ so parents could collect them and their sleepover gear.
