"Didn't we have a lovely time ,the day we went to"... Hallowtree?

Full of excitement and trepidation, various Dads and their respective offspring gathered at base for their " bonding" weekend, some having spent half the previous night erecting tents and being plagued by local wildlife: poor things (Dads or the wildlife?).

Bangers and stockcars first. What a treat for all and then the thrill of that first night under canvas and questions like, why didn't I bring a bed, like Barry? That first full day was in truth exhausting, most Dads having become used to a rather more sedate lifestyle in recent years, however prompted by both Akela and "Baggie's" constant urging we stumbled through the day and onto the combined delights of the Pub and local takeaway that evening (what, more food!). And what of the boys? Glad to have us out of their hair I expect:can't have Dads cramping their style, can we! The go-karts had to be the highlight (despite Lucky's attempts at espionage, which backfired of course) plus the towel racks (girls, where were you?), games competition (interesting nails method Paul, ably abetted by Lucky of course) and rounders.Isn't that enough for one weekend, I certainly slept well on Sunday evening dreaming of Baden Powell' glorious heritage, how quickly next year's camp would arrive and whether Cameron would still be young enough for me to take part. I certainly hope so.

Finally, to Chris,Paul,Wendy,Claire,Sarah,Pete and his unsung heroes in the kitchen, we salute you. Without your unstinting efforts and planning, this and other events would not happen. The camaraderie was excellent and the boys should know how lucky they are,the Dads and all parents certainly do.
